When reading air traffic, it’s critical to be able to differentiate a non-threat aircraft from an intruder aircraft. Or to identify who’s flying within a +/- 9,900 ft relative altitude vs. at the traffic advisory (TA) level, or most importantly, at the resolution advisory (RA) level. All air traffic is displayed in a series of icon shapes and colors corresponding to the potential threat of collision.
TCAS has made a huge impact on making our skies a safer place. The TCAS course will help you master this life-saving tool by first understanding the system and second by identifying the correct flight procedures with each warning.
This course covers the operation and use of Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance Systems (TCAS). The course emphasizes the operation of TCAS equipment and the flight procedures that are required for response to TCAS Traffic Advisory (TA) and Resolution Advisory (RA) warnings. Information relating to TCAS II version 7.1 is included in the course.
This course is available in three versions; one version describes conventional (generic) equipment installations, while the other versions describe (respectively) typical Airbus and Boeing displays.
The course is available in versions for standard, A330, B737 and B777 aircraft, showing aircraft instrumentation for each type.
